Potential clients might ask, what does “a full service design company” mean? Being a "full service" design firm means that we begin with digital photographs, measurements and drawings, taking into consideration everything we have spent time discussing and then prepare an extensive design plan to meet those needs, which will include the purchase of those items. In many cases, our work will include scaled 3-D renderings showing the placement of the furnishings and colors we will suggest.

We specialize in transforming interiors to reveal your personality and lifestyle through a language of color, shapes and design elements. Whether providing a fresh perspective on existing furnishings or selecting new design elements for your home, we tailor our services in harmony with your style and budget.

The Design Firm is dedicated to creating unique environments that reflect our clients' individual styles. Our job is to add, edit and refine while ensuring that your design preferences are always at the core of our work.

Whether you're constructing your dream kitchen or bath, redesigning a complete residence or simply looking to renew the decor in a single room, The Design Firm will help realize your vision. Like you, our clients are people with busy lifestyles and a keen appreciation for homes that are both artful and functional.

From custom upholstery and window treatments to antique textiles and one-of-kind pieces discovered abroad, The Design Firm select or craft each detail of every interior specifically for its future occupants. The result is interiors of great visual depth, complexity, and personality but also great ease, comfort and utility.

At The Design Firm, we know that a thousand details create one room—and from beginning to end we refuse to overlook a single one. The contractors we work with can’t believe the comprehensive nature of our designs, mechanical drawings that pinpoint every feature from the center lines to the amperage of appliances. We tailor your design to perfectly fit your needs. Our triple-check system when ordering ensures that no time delays occur due to an avoidable error. It’s all part of the The Design Firm philosophy—an attention to detail smoothes every step of the process to ensure the functionality.

"Before we create a design, we first build a partnership with each client. Our service begins when we brainstorm for ideas with clients and doesn't end until the cabinets are installed and the homeowner is delighted. From family dinners to homework to late-night snacks, the kitchen is the center of the home - that's why top-notch design and excellent quality goes into every project we undertake."

Share with us your ideas. What complaints do you have about your current space and what changes would you like to see? How will you be using the room? Do certain colors or styles create the feeling you want?

We want to completely understand what you want, putting the responsibility on our shoulders. We share with you a detailed review of the floor plan, a 3-D computer-generated perspective, and a complete pricing of the proposed design. Because our staff takes a great deal of pride in our custom designs, we retain all working drawings until a commitment has been made.

We specialize in home improvement projects that require either design or construction services. Dedicated to a high level of customer satisfaction, we pride ourselves in repeat customers and a high number of customer referrals for new work.

Our attention to detail in every aspect of the remodeling process – from an accurate proposal to a clean job site and flawless completed project – differentiates The Design Firm from its competitors, allows for minimal intrusion upon the day-to-day lives of our customers and insures that all of our projects are completed to the highest standards.

When using The Design Firm for your project, you are working with a design/build company. A Design/Build company is the uniting of the two most important facets of the construction project. It was created to save the consumer both time and money. When the homeowner works with a design/build company they are working with one company and this helps to eliminate costly miscommunication. This unification successfully creates a project that embodies knowledge and expertise into one solid package.

Under the banner of "Affordable Excellence- without cutting corners", The Design Firm will dedicate itself to designing, specifying, building and warranting residential improvements from basement to attic. New kitchens, bathrooms, additions, bedroom and basement improvements are all possible by dealing with one qualified company. This "one step" client centered approach exceeds that of a general contractor. The Design Firm will take your conceptual thoughts and transform them into detailed drawings and specifications and then into a carefully crafted finished project

OUR DESIGN PROCESS IS BASICALLY A THREE-STEP METHOD:

1. First, our design professionals will set a meeting at your home where we'll listen to what your wants and needs are. We'll measure and assess your existing situation. We'll talk about when the project could get started and about how long it will take to complete. We'll discuss the projected budget for the project, as well as any special concerns you may have about the project. We'll then head back to the office to begin designing the preliminary set of drawings on our computer-aided design (CADD) program, where we'll incorporate your desires into our innovative and original design approach.

2. Secondly, within approximately 1 week of the initial meeting, we'll meet with you to present the preliminary design plans. We'll explain the concepts and reasons for the design, and we'll incorporate your input for any changes you'd like to see. At this time, we will try and address the budget for the project in a little more detail, and make changes accordingly to accommodate your project budget. Then we finalize the construction drawings.

3. A detailed, customized, computer-generated contract for the construction phase of the project will follow soon after the final drawings, and a start date will be set. An official start date will be set, and then the project begins! It can be as simple as that!

As the real estate industry often stresses, the first impression is key to selling a house. Home-staging, the art of getting more with less by re-design, can significantly increase the market value of your home. As a proven fact, it can increase a home’s sale price anywhere from 5%-50%, and sell in less than half the time! Real estate experts everywhere agree that it has become a requirement in the ever so competitive real estate market.

We at The Design Firm are practiced in the art of preparing a house for a home showing. The creative use of “re-design” can highlight your home’s best features and set it apart from the competition. Our staff will work with the “flow” of a home, eliminate clutter, edit and arrange furniture, update certain elements, and even assist in enhancing the exterior for ‘curb’ appeal.

This will allow the buyer to experience the home’s true potential without having to visually remove the layer of someone else’s everyday living. With the aid of The Design Firm, your house can make that significant first impression you desire!

Q: WHAT IS HOME-STAGING?
A: Professional home-stagers, such The Design Firm, are practiced in the art of preparing a home for an open house showing. This involves showcasing a homes foremost features and highlighting what today’s home buyers are searching for. This makes it much easier for the potential buyer to imagine themselves in the home.

Q: WHY IS IT OF VALUE TO ME, THE HOME OWNER?
A: For starters, it has proven to increase market value anywhere from 5% - 50%. In addition to this amazing statistic, the trend also effects a home’s time spent on the market. A recent report stated that an un-redesigned home typically finds itself on the market for an average of 30.7 days. Where as one that has been home-staged, is on the market for much less time, approximately 13.9 days, a considerable contrast. With both of these benefits, the home owner is rewarded by receiving not only an increased asking price, but a timely sale. What more can a home seller ask for?

Q:HOW DOES IT WORK?
A: It begins with an overall space evaluation, which involves a walk through consultation and a written recommendation. As already mentioned, The Design Firm will work with the “flow” of a home, eliminate clutter, edit and arrange furniture, and even assist in enhancing the exterior for ‘curb’ appeal. At times this process may involve the repainting of walls and ceilings, minor repairs, updating certain elements, and even the addition furniture. With the aid of a professional home-stager, your house can make a notable first impression.

If you wish to accelerate the sale of your home and receive the highest price that the real estate market allows, please contact us now, so we can show you how to “redesign” your house to sell just the way you want it to.

Are your ceilings making you look elsewhere? We know the feeling. We understand because our clients have been relying on our services to create new, brighter ceilings for quite some time. Whether it is a situation of damage or some well deserved freshening up, the Design Firm’s professional ceiling refinishing services can give you the results your looking for. Please give us a call for further information and a free estimate.

Q: DO YOU ONLY DO UNFURNISHED HOMES AND BUSINESSES?
A: This may come as a surprise, but no. Most of our ceiling refinishing projects are done in fully furnished homes. We go to great lengths to assure the overall protection of our clients’ spaces. This is priority #1.

Q: WHAT TYPE OF CEILING REFINISHING DOES THE FIRM DO?
A: We specialize in spray painted, textured (‘popcorn’) and acoustical tile.

Q: HOW DO YOU REFINISH MY CEILINGS?
A: There are several steps to making your ceilings look new. First, all walls in relation to the area being refinished are fully protected to guarantee against any overspray. Secondly, all floors and pathways are fully covered. As the next step of protection, all furnishings are then covered completely.

Once the area is completely protected, we begin whatever repairs and stain treatment that is needed. After each of these steps are done, the ceiling gets sprayed with a specially formulated ceiling coating. (Or if being textured, ‘popcorn’ material gets applied.) When ceilings are dry to the touch, all masking and protection materials are removed.

Q: DON'T THE ACOUSTICAL TILES ADHERE TO THE METAL GRIDS?
A: If we were using conventional ceiling paint they would, but our coating is formulated to have non-bridging properties to prevent such a thing from happening. The coating will not change the characteristics of the tile or the look , such as filling in the small fissures. The ceiling will have the look of new tiles and grids without having any adhesion.

Q: WILL MY CEILINGS LOOK STREAKY AS IF THEY WERE ROLLED OR SPRAYED ON WITH COMMON STORE BOUGHT PAINT?
A: Absolutely not. Our unique ceiling coating is specially formulated to NOT leave streaks or highlights. Instead you’ll have ceilings looking nice and uniform with a new sense of brightness.

Q: CAN CEILINGS BE REFINISHED ONLY IN WHITE OR CAN THEY HAVE A CUSTOM COLOR ALSO?
A: Yes. Not every one wishes to have “white” ceilings. That being said, we are able to custom tint ceilings in pretty much any color under the sun.

Q: WHAT TYPE OF REPAIRS ARE TYPICALLY DONE?
A: Over time ceilings can be exposed to a great deal of elements, each having its own adverse effect. Our repairs are typically in the realm of water damage, resulting in reddish-brown stains and peeling or flaking paint, even involving correcting sagging drywall. But also include discoloration from nicotine and just plain age. And of course we often run into holes from planter hooks or relocation of lighting and actual walls.

Q: WILL IT COST LESS IF THE SPACE IS BEING REMODELED OR IS EMPTY?
A: Yes. There are a few ways to cut down on cost. Such as if your planning on having the walls painted, have us do the work before painting or by having the area completely empty of furniture and household items. All of these will cut down on the amount of preparation, which is a fair amount of the overall job.

Q: IS THE DESIGN FIRM INSURED?
A: Yes. We have full liability and guarantee our work.
